Social Justice
Our baptismal covenant calls us to “strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.”
Our mission is to respond to the challenges our brothers and sisters face in regard to those issues of peace, justice and dignity in our community and the wider world; to collaborate with other groups in the church and beyond; to spread the word about the good work parishioners are doing; to offer a place for us to struggle together in reaching out to our broken world; and to provide opportunities to turn thought and learning into action for change.
Locally, St. Mary’s supports the work of Suzie’s Closet, Asheville CROP Walk, Adopt-a-Street and Lunch & Learn Series (with Temple Beth HaTephila) and local Community Sustainable Agriculture to name a few. We are particulary interested in issues relating to the care and protection of families at risk.
